Focused Support Groups

These support groups meet for 1 hour and are limited to 6 people, which allows for a more intimate and tailored experience.

Focused Support Groups are facilitated by Valerie Bogie, Veterinary Social Worker and our Director of Human Support Services.  These support groups focus on specific topics and behavioral challenges, but do not take the place of seeking professional mental health services.

Topics rotate regularly- here are a few examples:

  • Owners of pets with separation anxiety

  • Owners of dogs reactive on leash

  • Owners of pets distressed at the vet

  • Owners that have euthanized a pet for behavioral reasons

  • And more!

Please keep in mind that the purpose of this support group is to express emotions.  It is not for medication, training or management advice or solutions.  Participants are able to share their stories and lend an empathetic ear to others by utilizing active listening.
