Valerie Bogie

Administrative Manager &

Behavior Consultant

Valerie is certified in Emotional CPR, earned a Veterinary Human Support Certificate through the University of Tennessee Knoxville and is Fear Free Certified.

Valerie’s first job at Hickory Creek Animal Hospital in her hometown of New Lenox, Illinois, helped start her on her lifelong path of working with animals.  She graduated from Carthage College in 2005 with a double major in Environmental Science and Geography with a Biology minor.  Since then, Valerie has cared for a variety of species at John G. Shedd Aquarium, Racine Zoo, Brookfield Zoo, SeaWorld San Antonio, Tennessee Aquarium and Lincoln Park Zoo, while also offering care and training for dogs and cats.

Throughout her career, Valerie has gravitated towards supporting others during stressful times and learning how to provide a safe space for them to share their emotions.  She has completed certifications in Emotional CPR and Veterinary Human Support, and is excited to lead Insight's Human Support Services.  She has an in-depth understanding of the challenges faced by pet owners not only from the perspective of an Insight employee, but also from the perspective of a client as her oldest dog, Wylie (pictured), is an Insight patient.

Valerie enjoys traveling with her husband, Zach, and their three dogs (Wylie, Mona & Noodles) in their RV and finding the best vegan dessert spots everywhere they go.
