Veronica Garcia, RVT

Veterinary Nurse

Veronica grew up in the suburbs north of Chicago. After she graduated from the University of Illinois with a business degree, she spent several years in employee benefits consulting. She eventually moved from Chicago all the way across the country to northern California. There she found her passion in veterinary medicine. She went back to school and obtained her license as a Registered Veterinary Technician. She also rescued her first dog, Toby, a maltipoo with diabetes and a plethora of behavioral issues. Toby was the catalyst that started her journey into veterinary behavior and training as a pet owner.

In the last decade Veronica has bounced around between Illinois, California, and Tennessee. She has extensive experience in veterinary medicine, especially with internal medicine and emergency/critical care. Most of her time was spent in Illinois as an ER technician at Veterinary Specialty Center. She thrived in stressful situations and welcomed the fast pace of ER. More than that, she loved providing advanced nursing care to critically ill patients hospitalized in the ICU. She also spent several years in management roles, allowing her the opportunity to cultivate environments of high achieving veterinary teams.

Veronica has a soft spot for diabetic dogs, always having at least 1 in her home. She continues to rescue dogs with medical and/or behavior issues and constantly seeks to strengthen the bond she shares with them.

In her spare time Veronica enjoys functional fitness, visiting local vegan eateries, and spending time with her husband, John, and their 3 dogs: Dash (the diabetic pictured), Preston, and Sprite.
